Wish List Items
Every year we are amazed at the number of children who attend camp with very little. Whether the child is from poverty stricken Appalachia, or a child of a struggling single parent, or a child of the now working poor of America their needs are many. These children sometimes arrive at camp without the bare essentials such as soap, tooth paste, sleeping bag or pillow. Some have even attended with only the clothes on their backs.
We always try to provide what we can for these children. Giving them these essentials has often changed the attitude of a little one from downcast to sheer joy ~ over a simple thing like a tooth brush in their favorite color that they can keep for their very own.
We know that if they come to camp without the basic needs that their home life is most likely just as poor and that their basic needs for school supplies are probably also a struggle for their parent or guardians.
In the past few years we've started giving the children a small bag containing a few school supplies along with a special small stuffed toy, a brand new camp t-shirt and a CD of all the camp music.
This year we'd like to take it to the next level and provide each child with a back pack full of school supplies and a small toy, along with their camp shirt and CD.
Providing for this many children can be costly - but with many hands helping to carry the load the cost can be minimal.
Below is our "Wish List". These are the things, brands and quantities we will need to give each child a back pack this year.

School Supplies
600 Crayola 24-count
box of crayons
1200 #2 Yellow pencils
600 pencil bags (boys & girls)
600 spiral paper notebooks
600 3-ring notebooks
600 pink erasers
600 fiskar scissors
1200 Elmers Glue Sticks
600 plain backpacks (color is TBD) - we want to imprint with logo
Walmart gift cards (great way to allow us to do the shopping)
Camp Supplies
Trial size: Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes, combs, hair brushes (due to a generous gift from a local dentist we do not need toothpaste)
Laundry detergent and softener
Bath mats (helps with water control in shower area)
Extra sleeping bags and pillows
Walmart gift cards (great way to allow us to do the shopping)
Give Back Project items - TBD
If you are able to donate any of these items please send us an email and we will determine where the most convenient location is for you to drop off items.
