How You Can Help

Support/FAQ

Think of what it takes to run your home and then multiply that over and over again.  That’s what it takes to run Superkids: People, Stuff and money.

Listed on these pages are ways you can help:

First the people part.   We are a Christian organization and agreement with our statement of faith is required to volunteer.  We need lots of volunteers and there are many areas in which to serve.  See Volunteers below for areas and ways you serve.

Second the Stuff.  It takes lots of stuff to operate camp – see our Wish List link to the right of this page for things you can help supply.

Third the money.  It takes lots of money.  Each camp costs around $35,000 to operate.  To the right of this page check out the link to Adopt a  Camper

For the past several years Superkids Ministries  have had  a volunteer staff of over 200 for our summer camps.  As the number of children attending camp increases each year the number of needed volunteers increases.

Volunteering

All persons 18 years of age and over who volunteer at camp must complete a mandatory BCI and/or FBI background check.

All persons under 18 must submit two character reference forms from non-family members. One of which needs to be from a church leader.

Counselors
This position is open for both men/women, adult and teens who’ve completed 7th grade. You must attend training prior to camp and have completed the required background checks. Adult & teen men are especially needed in this area.  Godly men role models are needed for our children today and this is an excellent opportunity to mentor a young man.

If you are interested in being a counselor you can check the current training schedule and attend one of the training dates. You will also need to get a BCI background check. Information regarding background checks can be obtained at your training.
Cleaning Staff (during and after camp)

During Camp:

For the more years than we can count camp has been faithfully cleaned by a loving servant of God.  She’s in need of help and we’d love to see 2-3 people take on this task.  It involves cleaning bathrooms, showers, floors, emptying trash and doing some laundry throughout our two weekends.

After Camp:

Superkids has had an unofficial motto of “leave it better than you found it” when it comes to the places who have graciously hosted our camps over the years.  For us that means that after spending Thursday-Saturday with hundreds of children in a non-stop schedule we ask our entire staff to stay and help clean the building so that we can return it better than we found it.  We run sweepers, clean walls, mop floors, clean toilets, clean showers, wash windows inside and out, take out trash and everything that is needed to leave the host church better than we found it for their Sunday morning service.  This is exhausting work after such a long weekend and we’d love to have a “special crew” come in and take on this work for us so that we can send our staff home for much needed rest.  If you have a crew that is willing to commit to one or both weekends  to help us clean please contact us at this link.
Kitchen Staff
Have you ever tried to feed 500 people in a single weekend?  Our kitchen crew is excellent and has it down to a science but this fun loving crew could always use more hands. Work involves setting up tables, prep and clean up, food prep, washing dishes, etc.  Some work can be done before camp.  Kitchen staff hold their own meetings.
Auxillary Staff

Auxiliary defined means assisting or supporting and at Superkids the Auxiliary teams do just that.  They assist and support everything.  Here are areas where we need additional auxiliary staff:

  • Greeters – these people will assist campers and their parents in getting all the child’s belongings from the cars and lobby to their room. (Requires warm caring personality, and ability to lift luggage, sleeping bags, pillows etc.)
  • Set-up Crew – these individuals will assist us before camp starts in preparing the building for the camper’s arrival.  This includes stacking chairs, desks, tables, and boxing pew items for safe keeping during camp, and unloading the supply truck.
